About Xaghra, Gozo

Xaghra, one of the largest Villages on the island. It boasts of various places of interest. To start with, there is the magnificent Basilica Church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Neolithic remains of the Ggantija Temples, Santa Verna, and ta’ Sansuna, two Stalagmite and Stalactite caves, the place of the Legendary cavern of Calypso, a tiny secluded bay at Ghajn Barrani located discreetly between Ramla and Marsalforn bays, a Folklore Museum at Ta’ Kola Windmill, as well as a Toy Museum. There are also some very fine local Restaurants specializing mainly in local traditional dishes. To name one such place there is Gester’s which despite its small size, has received international acclaim.
