About Qala, Gozo
Qala, located on the eastern tip of the small island of Gozo and just minutes from Mgarr Harbour, is convenient for ferry access to and from Malta.
Qala is located in a rural setting with farmland surrounding the village. Apart from the church, the eighteenth-century windmill is a well known landmark.
Dahlet Qorrot, a small cove directly north of Qala, is an excellent place to see traditional fishing boats rocking in the clear blue waters. You may still see fisherman mending nets and taking care of their colourful boats. The water in the cove is quite deep and makes for great snorkelling and diving points along the cove. The road leading to the cove is quite narrow and a bit of an adventure, but it's worth the drive.
When you look to the south from Qala, you can see the Blue Lagoon and the island of Comino. The view is stunning and you can get some great shots of the Blue Lagoon from the main road as you drive to the eastern end of Qala.
The small and secluded beach of Hondoq ir-Rummien is located on the eastern most part of the village of Qala and is quite popular with locals.
The village is still rural in nature and a lot of the rich land in and around the village is still farmed and contributes to the "bread basket" of Malta and Gozo.
